Specialist musculoskeletal physiotherapy opinion for your difficult patient

Should a clinician be struggling to find a way forward with a complex musculoskeletal patient, an independent, second opinion is available.  Specialist opinion is offered to referrers with the express understanding that the patient will be returned to the referring clinician’s care following the 1-hour consultation

Treatment would only be offered to said patient if this specific request had been made by the referring physiotherapist.  This understanding is vitally important to ensure that each referring clinician can be comfortable in the knowledge that they are not at risk of their patient being lost to their clinic.  The referring clinician will be provided with a written summary of key clinical findings plus recommendations for future management

Should the referring clinician wish to be present for the specialist examination, they would be more than welcome, provided the patient is comfortable with such.  The specialist examination may be performed within the referring clinician’s private clinic or in an independent consulting room, whichever works best
